MONTREAL: Two cyclists in their 60s were hospitalized after being struck by a car in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred at around 5:10 p.m. near the intersection of Sainte-Catherine and Frontenac streets. According to Montreal Police (SPVM) spokesperson Manuel Couture, the two cyclists were traveling eastward on Sainte-Catherine Street when they were hit by a vehicle heading north on Frontenac Street.
Emergency services rushed both victims to a local hospital. A 65-year-old man remains in critical condition, while the second cyclist, aged 61, is reported to be out of danger.
The driver of the vehicle, a 41-year-old man who was uninjured in the crash, was interviewed by police investigators at the scene. Officers cordoned off the area and redirected traffic for several hours to conduct a detailed collision investigation. The investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident is still ongoing.
