CALGARY- Prime Minister Mark Carney is scheduled to attend the final day of this year’s Calgary Stampede. The Prime Minister arrived at the annual rodeo and exhibition on Saturday night, where he spent time enjoying mini doughnuts and watching the chuckwagon races while engaging with the crowd.
During his time on the Stampede grounds, Carney also discussed pipeline projects with several attendees. The visit follows his trip to Calgary just last week, where he joined Alberta Premier Danielle Smith to announce plans for a new oil pipeline stretching to the West Coast. The Prime Minister is set to attend a Stampede breakfast this morning before heading back to the main festival grounds.
Last year, during his first Stampede as prime minister, Carney faced some lighthearted challenges during the traditional pancake-flipping challenge—an event often viewed as a milestone for politicians visiting the exhibition. Several of his flapjacks landed lopsided, splattering batter toward the gathered crowd. Carney later joked about the incident, admitting he still had some work to do on his flipping skills.
