Ford recalls over 60,000 vehicles in Canada for brake malfunction

Ottawa: Transport Canada has announced the recall of 60,221 Ford light trucks, vans, and SUVs sold in Canada due to a brake defect. The recall affects 2025 model-year vehicles, specifically the Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition, Ford F-150, Ford Ranger, and Lincoln Navigator.

According to the recall notice, a software problem in certain situations could cause the electronic brake booster motor to shut down. If this occurs, it can lead to a sudden and significant increase in the brake pedal force required to stop the vehicle. Transport Canada warns that this issue may also cause the antilock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), and brake warning lights to illuminate, which increases the risk of a crash.

To remedy the issue, Ford Canada will notify affected owners by mail. The company will also provide a wireless, over-the-air (OTA) software update for the electronic brake booster module. This update can be performed remotely, though owners also have the option to take their vehicle to a dealership for the fix. The fix is being provided at no cost to the customer.
