Russian plane crashes near China border with 49 on board, no survivors reported

Moscow: ARussian passenger plane Antonov An-24 carrying carrying 49 people, including six crew members, has reportedly crashed in the eastern Amur region. The aircraft, operated by Siberian airline Angara, was involved in the accident. Local authorities have stated that approximately 50 passengers, including children, were on board and there is little chance of any survivors.

The plane disappeared from radar screens as it approached the town of Tynda in the Amur region, which shares a border with China. Regional Governor Vasily Orlov confirmed that there were 49 people on board, including five children and six crew members. The wreckage of the plane was found during a search operation conducted by Russia’s Emergencies Ministry.

Preliminary reports suggest that the accident was caused by a pilot error during landing, attributed to poor weather conditions and limited visibility. The crashed aircraft was an Antonov An-24, a model manufactured in the 1950s. This type of aircraft is widely used in Russia for both cargo and passenger transport.
