Shooting in uptown Waterloo sends man to hospital with serious injuries

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a targeted shooting that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning in the heart of the city’s uptown district. Officers responded to the intersection of King Street North and Princess Street East at approximately 1:40 a.m. following reports of gunfire in the busy commercial area.

Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered an 18-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was treated at the scene and subsequently transported to a local hospital. While officials describe his injuries as serious, they are not considered life-threatening at this time.

The investigation remains active, and a heavy police presence was maintained in the area throughout the morning as forensic teams processed the scene for evidence. Investigators have not yet released details regarding potential suspects or a motive for the violence, though they are working to determine if the parties involved were known to each other.
