Some TTC fare gates not accepting certain card payment methods

TORONTO: The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has announced that it is currently unable to accept card payments at subway station fare gates due to a server malfunction. This means debit and credit cards, as well as Apple and Google Wallet payments, will not be accepted at subway stations. However, the TTC confirmed that Presto card payments are still functioning.

The TTC tells 680 NewsRadio it is system-wide problem across all lines, and that crews are working to fix it. The transit agency added that fare collectors and agents have been deployed at the main gates of all affected stations to assist passengers. Riders are being directed to the fare gates that are working to prevent lines and crowding.

As of now, no travel disruptions have been reported. However, it remains unclear when the issue will be fully resolved.
