Racist Attack on Malayali Students in Nova Scotia

Halifax : A group of Malayali students faced racial abuse and a brutal assault in Nova Scotia, according to reports. The incident occurred on Sunday evening in Cow Bay, a rural community in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Four Malayali students, who had gone fishing, were attacked by a mob of approximately 15 individuals who subjected them to racial slurs and severe physical violence.
One student sustained serious facial injuries in the vicious attack.

The complaint also alleges that the assailants attempted to drown the students by forcing them underwater. The NORKA Coordination Council Canada has urged Indian communities, including Malayalis, to exercise caution when visiting such areas and to avoid situations that could lead to such violent incidents.
