Manitoba Boosts Winter Tourism with Massive New ‘Snow Pavilion’

WINNIPEG: In an ambitious move to revitalize winter tourism, a massive “Snow Pavilion” has been constructed in Manitoba’s Riding Mountain National Park. Built entirely from ice blocks harvested from Clear Lake, the impressive fortress stands six meters high and spans 15 meters in width.

The project, which cost approximately $30,000, features intricate artistic carvings and is designed to transform the park into a year-round destination. While Riding Mountain has seen a significant surge in visitors over the past few years, the majority of that traffic has historically been limited to the summer months. Officials hope this pavilion will provide a much-needed boost to local businesses by ensuring a steady stream of revenue throughout the colder season.

The Snow Pavilion is set to serve as the centerpiece for the ‘Frost and Fire’ festival scheduled for March. The venue will host a variety of cultural performances, winter sports activities, and food festivals. By blending architectural beauty with winter entertainment, authorities aim to attract not only local residents but also international tourists to the region.
