KITCHENER – A female prisoner who escaped from the Grand Valley Institution for Women in Kitchener has been apprehended. After a week-long search, Toronto Police Services announced the arrest of 59-year-old Caroline Burden, according to a statement from the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC).
Waterloo Regional Police confirmed Burden’s arrest took place on Monday afternoon at approximately 3:30 PM. No further details about the arrest were immediately available.
Authorities at the minimum-security prison reported Burden missing on August 31st at around 11:30 AM during a routine inspection. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued and contact was made with the Waterloo Regional Police.
Burden was serving a five-year sentence for a money scam.
