Canada and India Accelerate CEPA Trade Deal as 5th Round Talks Begin Monday

Ottawa: The fifth round of negotiations regarding the trade agreement between India and Canada will take place in Ottawa on Monday, October 5. Indian Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal confirmed that both countries have agreed to expedite the talks. The two ministers had held a meeting in Mumbai a few days ago. The trade deal is being framed to be mutually beneficial for the economic growth of both nations.

Canadian International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu announced the goal of boosting bilateral trade to $70 billion within the next five years. Speaking on the sidelines of the G20 Trade Ministers’ Summit, he stated that discussions regarding the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries are in their final stages.
