London Police arrest over 460 in protest against UK’s ban on Palestine Action group

London: A large number of protesters were arrested in London while demonstrating against the ban on the pro-Palestine activist group, ‘Palestine Action’. The Metropolitan Police arrested 466 people who were protesting in Central London on Saturday. In addition, officers stated that eight people were arrested for other offenses, five of whom were arrested for assaulting police. The Metropolitan Police said no officers were seriously injured in the attacks.

The British government banned ‘Palestine Action’ last month under counter-terrorism laws. Following the ban, some Palestine Action activists had trespassed onto a Royal Air Force base and damaged aircraft. The British government then labeled Palestine Action a terrorist organization and imposed the ban. A large protest took place on Saturday in response to this action.

Protesters, dressed in black and wearing kaffiyehs, arrived at Parliament Square in London carrying Palestinian flags. They chanted slogans in support of Palestine Action and against genocide. When police began the arrests, there was also a protest against the police officers.
