Multiple flights in Europe have been diverted because of bomb threats, authorities say

Paris: Multiple flights across Europe were diverted or forced to make emergency landings following a series of bomb threats.

A Finnair flight traveling from Helsinki, Finland, to Rome received a bomb threat but managed to land safely in the Italian capital. A subsequent security inspection confirmed that there were no suspicious items onboard.

Three Ryanair flights heading to Sofia, Bulgaria, also received bomb threat messages. Two flights—originating from Copenhagen and Madrid—were landed safely at Sofia’s Vasil Levski Airport. A third flight from London Stansted was diverted to Plovdiv Airport in Bulgaria and landed safely, confirmed CEO Krasimir Peshev.

Meanwhile, an Aer Lingus flight traveling from Ireland to Italy was diverted to a military air base in Normandy, France. Upon approaching Paris, the aircraft abruptly changed course and circled before landing at the Evreux Military Air Base. French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu’s office confirmed that all 151 passengers and 6 crew members are safe, and a military bomb squad is conducting thorough checks on the aircraft.

Over the past few days, several other carriers—including Polish Airlines (LOT), Scandinavian Airlines, Wizz Air, and Ryanair—have received similar hoax bomb threats. Authorities have intensified their investigation to trace the source behind these messages.
