Meta said it has removed about 10 million profiles for impersonating large content producers through the first half of 2025 as part of an effort by the company to combat ‘spammy content.’The company also stated that it now has technology that will detect duplicate videos and reduce the distribution of that content.
Meta is currently working to make Facebook feeds more authentic and pages more relevant. Meta has warned that accounts will be shut down if users copy content from other creators or post it without giving credit. While sharing content from others’ accounts or commenting on them is allowed, directly posting their content in the feed without permission or attribution will not be permitted, Meta clarified in a blog post.
Meta’s post also states that the reach of posts by plagiarists will be reduced, they will be expelled from the monetization program, and links to original videos will be provided alongside duplicate videos. If this is implemented, a ‘Original by’ disclaimer will appear below the video.
Meta also advises that all content should be original from now on, as only original content will receive more visibility. It also recommends using proper titles and hashtags and avoiding watermarks from third-party apps.’
