Texas Flash Floods: Death Toll Exceeds 100 as Search Continues

Washington D.C.: The death toll from the devastating flash flood in Texas rose past 100. Official figures confirm 104 fatalities. Among the confirmed fatalities are 28 children, including 27 who were at a summer camp. Numerous individuals, including 10 children, are still missing. In Kerr County alone, 84 deaths have been reported.

Search operations are ongoing along the muddy banks of the Guadalupe River, utilizing helicopters and surveillance aircraft. Military drones and Coast Guard planes are also being deployed in the search efforts. Authorities have indicated that the death toll is likely to rise further.

The weather department has issued new warnings of heavy rain and flooding. Flash flood warnings remain in effect for several areas. At a Christian camp in Kerr County, numerous families were trapped inside their trailer homes, and people were swept away by the raging waters. Authorities have stated that information regarding approximately two dozen camp members is still unavailable. Reports suggest that the number of missing persons could still increase. So far, 850 people have been rescued. Pope Leo XIV in Rome offered special prayers for the victims of the disaster.
