BARRIE: Police are investigating a brazen daylight vehicle theft after a white 2024 Honda CR-V was stolen from the Georgian Mall parking lot on Monday afternoon. Investigators are now turning to the public for assistance, urging shoppers who were in the area to check their vehicle dashcam footage for potential clues.
According to authorities, the vehicle owner parked the SUV near Entrance 5 on the east side of the Bayfield Street mall at around 1:15 PM before heading inside to shop. When they returned to the parking lot at approximately 3:00 PM, the vehicle was gone. After a thorough search of the immediate area yielded no results, the owner alerted the Barrie Police.
Investigating officers revealed that there are no surveillance cameras directly monitoring the section of the parking lot where the theft took place, leaving them without official CCTV footage of the incident.
In light of this, police are requesting help from anyone who visited the mall on Monday. Drivers who parked near Entrance 5 between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM are highly encouraged to review their dashcam recordings for any suspicious activity or individuals around a white Honda CR-V. The Barrie Police Service is actively continuing its investigation into the theft.
