A 40-year-old woman, Tanychia Black, has been arrested by Toronto police following a violent incident where her two dogs viciously attacked a 70-year-old man and his pet dog near a city park.
The attack took place on Thursday near Avenue Road and Roxborough Street in the Summerhill neighbourhood. According to authorities, Black’s two dogs escaped from an enclosed, off-leash park area and charged at the senior citizen who was walking his leashed pet nearby.
The elderly man suffered physical injuries but is currently in stable condition, while his dog sustained life-threatening injuries. Investigators believe the attacking dogs belong to a large breed, such as Pit Bulls or Bull Terriers.
Police have charged Black with criminal negligence causing bodily harm, failure to prevent a dog from biting or attacking, and obstructing a peace officer.
Meanwhile, police have not yet located the two dogs involved in the attack. Authorities have issued a strict warning urging the public not to approach the animals if spotted and to report any sightings immediately to the Toronto Police.
