Ottawa: Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez shared an image on Thursday morning featuring Canada’s iconic red maple leaf added to the European Union (EU) flag. The gesture is being viewed as a strong symbol of the deepening relationship between Canada and the European Union.
The post follows a bilateral meeting between Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Pedro Sánchez during the summit held in Armenia last May. During their discussions, both leaders announced plans to boost mutual cooperation in key sectors, including defense, energy, and infrastructure. They also committed to doubling bilateral trade between the two nations.
Highlighting their friendly rapport during that meeting, Carney and Sánchez had also exchanged national football team jerseys as a token of goodwill.
