OTTAWA: Thousands of child car seats sold across Canada and the United States are being recalled by manufacturer Evenflo due to a safety issue involving the adjustable headrest.
According to a recall notice published by Transport Canada, the issue affects more than 6,200 units sold in Canada that were manufactured between February 2025 and June 2026. Transport Canada noted that when installed in forward-facing mode with the headrest set to positions 10 or 11, the headrest may change position during a crash. Canadian safety regulations mandate that the headrest position must remain stable under collision conditions.
In Canada, the recall affects model numbers CS260212521C (Brookline) and CS260212538C (Danvers), which have been on the market since March 2025.
Evenflo confirmed that no injuries have been reported to date in connection with the defect. The company advised parents and caregivers that the seats remain safe to use provided specific configurations are followed:
- Forward-facing mode: Use any headrest position except 10 or 11.
- Rear-facing mode: Use any headrest position except 11.

In the United States, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that nearly 60,000 Evenflo child car seats are subject to the same recall.
