5 people taken to hospital after Richmond Hill house fire

TORONTO: A house fire has been reported in a residence in Richmond Hill. Authorities have confirmed that five people have been admitted to the hospital, with four of them in serious condition. The fire was reported around 3:15 AM on Monday near Skywood Drive and Rollinghill Road.

Paramedics who arrived at the scene immediately transported the injured to the hospital. Four people were found inside the home, police said. York Regional Paramedic Services said they assessed five patients at the scene and four were found lifeless. All five patients were transported to hospital, paramedics said. Police later said that three of them suffered life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters are on the scene, working to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshall is being notified of the blaze and is expected to attend the scene. Homes in the area were evacuated as emergency crews fought the fire, but people have since been allowed to return to their homes, police said. Roads in the area have been closed to traffic.
