Ottawa: Canada has been named the safest country for tourists to visit in 2027. The distinction comes from the annual rankings published by Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection. New Zealand, Australia, Iceland, and Japan round out the top five spots.
The rankings were compiled by evaluating the actual experiences and safety perceptions of American travelers. The study also incorporated data from the Global Peace Index, Numbeo safety metrics, and safety scores of various major cities.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE), which ranked 7th last year, dropped to 16th place in the latest report. Meanwhile, Scandinavian countries such as Denmark, Norway, and Sweden made significant gains.
Notably, India secured the second spot in a sub-survey conducted among wealthy travelers who spend more than $25,000 annually on travel.
The report also highlights that travelers are placing far greater emphasis on safe destinations as concerns over climate change, geopolitical tensions, and overall travel security continue to rise.
