Mississauga Has Voted for Change: Alvin Tedjo

Addressing enthusiastic supporters shortly after the results were announced, Tedjo stated that the city of Mississauga has voted for change.

“The people of Mississauga have made a clear and historic decision that they want change at City Hall. Standing here as your new Mayor is a profound honor that I will treasure for the rest of my life. This is a immense responsibility, and I do not take it lightly,” Tedjo said.

He added that his campaign presented a comprehensive plan to improve residents’ quality of life, and now it is time for hard work to turn those plans into reality. He also expressed his gratitude for the contributions of Carolyn Parrish, Bonnie Crombie, and Dipika Damerla, who put up a tough fight.

Key Promises and Personal Profile

Tedjo, who arrived in Canada at the age of four, is a father of three. He has been serving as a City Councillor since 2022.

Key campaign promises made during his mayoral run:

  • No increase in residential property taxes for the next two years.
  • Increase in property tax rebate amounts for senior citizens.
  • Making various city services and infrastructure projects affordable and accessible to the general public.

Concession by Opponents

As the outcome became clear, both Bonnie Crombie and Carolyn Parrish called Tedjo to offer their congratulations.

“My shortcoming was not offering the benefits people wanted and failing to ease their burden during these economically difficult times. I should have kept the messaging simpler. Tedjo has a massive task ahead in the coming days,” Carolyn Parrish stated while conceding defeat.

Both leaders extended their best wishes to Tedjo for his upcoming term in office.
