CALGARY- Eighteen people were arrested in Calgary, Canada, during a joint enforcement initiative conducted by local police and the Alberta Sheriffs’ Fugitive Apprehension Sheriffs Support Team. The crackdown took place on August 5 and 6 across downtown Calgary and surrounding areas, resulting in the execution of 91 outstanding warrants against wanted individuals and the collection of over $3,000 in overdue fines.
Of the 91 warrants executed during the operation targeting individuals with active files, 77 were criminal and 14 were non-criminal. Police revealed that a majority of the warrants involved serious offenses, including assaulting peace officers, resisting arrest, possession of dangerous weapons, and assault with weapons.
Calgary Police Service Sgt. Chelsea Karpenko stated that the crackdown does not end here, emphasizing that investigators from CPS and Alberta Sheriffs are actively pursuing additional wanted individuals based on intelligence gathered during the operation.
