HALIFAX — An emergency alert issued in the Halifax area has been cancelled after a five-year-old boy, who went missing on Friday morning, was found safe and sound.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) had triggered an urgent public broadcast following the child’s disappearance in Elderbank, a rural community situated in Nova Scotia’s Musquodoboit Valley. He was last seen at approximately 7:50 a.m. at a residential property on Cooks Brooks Road.
Because the young boy’s clothing was discovered remaining inside the house, authorities were deeply concerned that he might have wandered outdoors completely unclothed. Fearing for his safety in the rural terrain, the RCMP issued an immediate Alert Ready message, calling on local residents to urgently search their properties, outbuildings, and backyards. Ground search and rescue teams, specialized K9 units, and police aircraft were also rapidly deployed to scour the vicinity.
Following an intensive, high-stakes search operation, the RCMP officially confirmed that the child was successfully located near his residence at around 10:15 a.m. Officials stated that he is unharmed and in safe hands. With the boy securely found, emergency services have started wrapping up operations and clearing the area, expressing gratitude to the community for their quick cooperation.
