Gun charges dropped against 2 Sikh activists

BRAMPTON: Reports indicate that charges have been dropped against two of the three Khalistan separatist leaders who were arrested in September on weapons charges, including the possession of firearms. However, the case against prominent Khalistan separatist leader Inderjit Singh Gosal remains active.

Gosal, along with Armaan Singh from Toronto and Jagdeep Singh, a New York resident, were arrested on September 19 during a vehicle check in Oshawa. Recent reports confirm that all charges against Jagdeep Singh and Armaan Singh have been withdrawn. The initial charges included careless use of a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The report details that 36-year-old Inderjit Gosal is a prominent Sikh activist and a member of the Khalistan movement. He serves as the spokesperson for the Sikh independence movement and is the leader of the Canadian chapter of Sikhs for Justice. Gosal assumed the leadership role of the Canadian chapter following the fatal shooting of Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, British Columbia, in 2023.

Gosal had previously been arrested following protests in Brampton and charged with assault with a weapon, for which he was granted bail.
