NEW DELHI – India has welcomed the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs praised the leadership of both for peace, calling it highly commendable.
India expressed its appreciation for the progress made at the summit. The statement said that the only way forward is through dialogue and diplomacy and that the world is eager for a swift end to the conflict.
India found it a relief when Trump stated that he was not immediately considering imposing further sanctions on Russia and its trade partners. However, Trump also noted that this decision may be reconsidered in two or three weeks.
