KITCHENER—Authorities have issued a Winter Travel Advisory for Guelph and Wellington County following heavy snowfall across the region. With significant snow accumulation and reduced visibility, drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians are urged to exercise extreme caution.
Environment Canada’s warning indicates that the area could see up to five centimeters (5 cm) of snow. The adverse weather conditions have already prompted the cancellation of school bus services in Dufferin County on Tuesday. As of 7 a.m., the Waterloo Region was not yet included in the immediate weather advisory.
Due to rapid changes in weather, travel conditions are expected to be difficult. The advisory recommends that travellers, whether walking or driving, maintain extra focus, reduce speed, and ensure a safe distance is kept from vehicles ahead by watching their taillights closely.
The current forecast suggests the snowfall is expected to taper off by Tuesday afternoon, leaving mainly cloudy skies. The daytime high is predicted to reach 1°C. Overnight, there is a 60 percent chance of continued snowfall, with temperatures dropping to a low of -1°C. Looking ahead to Wednesday, the day will be cloudy, with a mix of snow in the morning expected to change over to rain. The high for Wednesday is forecast to be 5°C.
