CALGARY — WestJet, a leading Canadian airline, has confirmed that the private information of some passengers was compromised following a cyberattack earlier this year. The Calgary-based airline stressed that no payment data was leaked in the incident.
A WestJet spokesperson reported that the airline’s system faced a “complex cyberattack” on June 13. The compromised information includes passengers’ names, contact details, travel itineraries, and documents related to reservations. However, the airline assured that sensitive financial data such as credit card numbers, debit card numbers, and CVV numbers were not exposed.
The airline confirmed it is collaborating with law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, to resolve the issue.
