Two Arrested in Audacious Louvre Museum Heist

PARIS — Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the stunning daytime robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris that shocked the world last Sunday. Both suspects are confirmed to be French nationals.

One suspect was apprehended at a Paris airport while allegedly attempting to flee the country to Algeria. The second suspect was detained shortly thereafter. Reports indicate that the arrests took place on Saturday evening. Both men are reportedly linked to several other theft cases. The individuals are from Seine-Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris.

The daring heist occurred in broad daylight last Sunday, just half an hour after the museum opened at 9 a.m. The thieves targeted the priceless jewelry collection of French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and the Empress, making off with nine items.

The perpetrators gained access to the museum by parking a truck on a road located on the southeastern side of the museum and using a mechanical ladder mounted on the vehicle to reach a window. They smashed the display cases using angle grinders to execute the theft.

The thieves fled after alarms sounded from the windows of the Apollo Gallery and two display boards. The entire operation, from entry to escape, reportedly took just seven minutes.
