Toronto: Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the city, anticipating two consecutive days of rising temperatures and severe heat. The weather agency predicts a maximum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, with temperatures dropping to 19 degrees Celsius overnight.
Meanwhile, Thursday is expected to bring intense heat, with daytime temperatures soaring to between 34 and 42 degrees Celsius, according to the weather agency. However, there is a 60 percent chance of rain on Friday. Daytime temperatures are expected to be around 29 degrees Celsius, with a drop to 20 degrees Celsius overnight.
People are advised to limit time outdoors during peak afternoon hours, wear sunscreen, and check in on vulnerable individuals, including seniors and young children. The extreme heat may also pose risks for those without air conditioning, and Toronto Public Health recommends using cooling centres or community spaces as needed.
