Southern Ontario Braces for Deep Freeze and Heavy Snowfall

Toronto: Environment Canada has issued a weather warning for parts of Southern Ontario, forecasting heavy snowfall and strong winds for today.

The weather agency anticipates that areas including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oshawa, and Niagara Falls could see between 2 cm and 4 cm of snow this morning. Higher accumulations of up to 5 cm are expected in some regions, including Barrie, Collingwood, and Orillia.

Extreme Wind Chill Predicted

The daytime high temperature is forecast to be a maximum of $2^\circ\text{C}$. However, the wind chill factor is expected to make it feel as cold as $-8^\circ\text{C}$.

  • Mississauga is predicted to have cloudy conditions on Saturday night with a 30% chance of flurries and gusts of wind.
  • The overnight low temperature will drop to $-8^\circ\text{C}$.
  • The wind chill could make the overnight temperature feel like $-11^\circ\text{C}$.

Environment Canada has also warned that more significant snowfall may occur on Sunday.
