Vancouver: The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) reports 69 wildfires are actively burning across British Columbia. As a result of these wildfires, some areas of the province are experiencing smoky conditions. The BCWS urges people living in areas of high smoke concentration to stay inside or to wear a ventilator mask outside.
While the majority of reported fires are under control or being held (meaning they are not expected to grow beyond their current perimeter), 15 fires remain out of control. These uncontrolled fires have prompted four evacuation alerts and four evacuation orders.
To combat the blazes, 326 firefighting personnel are working alongside local firefighters in affected areas throughout the province. Additionally, 69 aircraft are being utilized by the BCWS for aerial support in firefighting efforts.
