EDMONTON: The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has reported a significant surge in gun violence, particularly during the month of October. According to EPS data, the city recorded 16 shooting incidents in October alone, marking a sharp increase in violent occurrences.
Of the 16 incidents reported in October, 12 were confirmed as targeted shootings. These events resulted in casualties, with seven individuals injured and two fatalities recorded during the month.
The alarming trend is reflected in the year-to-date statistics for the city. Up to October 31, 2025, Edmonton reported a total of 119 shooting incidents. This figure represents a 13% increase in gun violence cases compared to the same time frame in 2024.
The EPS is expected to continue monitoring these trends closely as they work to address the rising levels of violent crime and targeted attacks within the city.
