OTTAWA — A food safety alert has been issued after a specific brand of ice cream sold at Costco locations across Canada was recalled due to potential contamination with Salmonella bacteria.
Gelda Foods is recalling certain lot codes of its Desi-Licious Kulfi Ice Cream Sticks. The recall notice, posted by Costco, warns consumers that the product may be unsafe to eat even if it does not look or smell spoiled.
Product and Store Details
The ice cream sticks were sold at Costco warehouses or business centres in Canada between October 17 and December 2.
Consumers should check their freezers immediately for the affected product. The impacted lot codes include: 4283, 4284, 4297, 4303, 4304, 4305, 4306, 4310, 5126, 5127, 5130, 5132, 5134, 5136, 5140, 5143, 5148, 5149, 5157, 5168, and 5169. This number can be found on the front of the package, located above the best-before date.
Consumer Action
Customers are strongly advised to not consume or distribute the recalled ice cream.
The recalled product can be returned to Costco for a full refund.

Consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, which may lead to short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea in healthy individuals.
