KITCHENER: Tutela Heights Road, located on the border of Brantford and Brant County, will be completely closed starting September 16 due to the risk of a weak embankment collapsing. The measure is being taken to ensure public safety.
The stability of the road was first studied in 2017 as part of the Brantford urban development, when the Tutela Heights area was added to Brant County. The study found the embankment near the road was unstable, leading to the decision to close the road.
A new drainage system and a cul-de-sac will be constructed on this section of the road. The road is currently under a temporary closure, with permission for emergency use. Authorities have stated that the permanent closure is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
