Quebec Premier François Legault is preparing to reshuffle his cabinet

MONTREAL: Quebec Premier François Legault is preparing to reshuffle his cabinet. The move comes as the next provincial election is set to take place in a year, and the Premier’s party is looking to regain its declining popularity. As part of this effort, the legislative session has been postponed for two weeks. It is expected that some key ministers, including Public Security Minister François Bonnardel, may lose their positions. The Legault government has faced significant setbacks from financial irregularities in the auto insurance plan and the failure of the Northvolt battery plant project.

Recent opinion polls have shown a loss of popularity for the party. The shuffle is intended to give new ministers time to familiarize themselves with their duties and to improve the government’s image. Agriculture Minister André Lamontagne and Family Affairs Minister Suzanne Roy have also announced they will be stepping down from the cabinet.
