NEW DELHI: Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly set to visit India by the end of August. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval confirmed that a tentative agreement has been reached on the dates of the visit, according to the Russian news agency Interfax.
The visit holds particular significance given the recent imposition of additional tariffs by US President Donald Trump on India, in retaliation for India’s purchase of oil from Russia. Putin’s trip is being closely watched as it comes at a time of heightened trade tensions and geopolitical shifts.
In addition to his visit to India, Putin is also expected to meet with Trump in the near future. The Kremlin has announced that both nations are working on arranging the meeting and that a location has already been agreed upon.
