Prince Edward Island Extends Fire Ban Until September 22

Charlottetown – The Government of Prince Edward Island has extended the provincial fire ban until September 22. The government announced that the ban will remain in effect until further notice.

The fire ban prohibits campfires and bonfires, including those on private land, provincial parks, and campgrounds. However, charcoal and propane barbecues can be used, with the government advising that no burning or smouldering charcoal briquettes should be placed on the ground.

The provincial fire ban does not apply to national parks. Prince Edward Island has stated that visitors to national parks must follow all regulations set by Parks Canada. Violation of the fire ban can result in a fine of up to $50,000.
