Yellowknife: RCMP have reported that a helicopter crash in the Northwest Territories has resulted in the death of the pilot. The incident occurred around noon near the Behchoko community,about105 kilometers northwest of Yellowknife.
Police say the pilot died despite the efforts of first responders. He was the lone occupant of the aircraft, they said. No details were provided about the pilot, the helicopter or the cause of the crash.
Nic Defalco, a spokesperson for the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, said the agency was collecting information about the crash. Defalco said the helicopter was registered to Great Slave Helicopters, a company based in Yellowknife. Great Slave Helicopters did not immediately respond to an emailed inquiry.
