Osmose Bleaching Agent recalled due to lack of appropriate labelling and child-resistant packaging

OTTAWA: Health Canada has issued a recall for the Osmose brand bleaching agent due to serious safety and labeling concerns, including non-compliance with child-resistant packaging requirements.

The recalled product is the Osmose Bleaching Agent sold in an 850-gram container, identifiable by the UPC number 818298008055. According to Health Canada, approximately 56,944 units of the affected product were sold across Canada between November 2017 and November of this year.

As of November 13, 2025, the company has confirmed that no illnesses or incidents related to the product have been reported in Canada.

Health Canada stated that the product fails to meet the required labeling standards and the Child-Resistant Packaging Requirements under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA). Non-compliant labeling and packaging pose a potential risk to consumers, especially children, who could accidentally ingest or misuse the potent bleaching agent.

Health Canada advises all consumers who have purchased the recalled Osmose Bleaching Agent to immediately stop using the product and safely secure it away from children. For further information regarding the recall and next steps, consumers should contact the product’s Quebec-based manufacturer, Total Fabrication, either by phone or email.
