TORONTO: The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has announced a record drug bust in Windsor, following a major investigation dubbed “Project Rotherham.” The operation marks the largest fentanyl seizure in OPP history, netting approximately 46 kilograms of fentanyl with an estimated street value of $6.5 million (CAD).
The investigation, conducted in collaboration with the Windsor Police Service, has led to the arrest of two individuals, with the probe currently ongoing.
As part of the coordinated effort, officers executed search warrants on September 25 at three residences and vehicles in Windsor. The raids resulted in the confiscation of a significant cache of narcotics and related items, including:
- 46 kilograms of Fentanyl
- 3.4 kilograms of Cocaine
- 1 kilogram of Heroin
- Pharmaceuticals: 4,500 Hydromorphone pills, 190 Oxycodone pills, 360 Morphine pills, 470 Benzodiazepine pills, and 35 Amphetamine pills.
- 181 kilograms of Caffeine (often used as a cutting agent)
In addition to the drugs, authorities seized a variety of other items:
- Two firearms and ammunition
- $170,000 in Canadian currency and $220 in US currency
- 24 cell phones and digital scales
- Body armour
- A Master Key Vehicle Programmer
- Jewelry
The OPP stated that the investigation continues as they work to dismantle drug networks operating across the province.
