Ottawa: Old Dutch Foods, a prominent Canadian food manufacturer, has recalled its popular product, ‘Ridgies Sour Cream, Green Onion & Bacon Flavour Potato Chips’. The recall was initiated because some packages contained milk, a potential allergen, that was not declared on the label. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a safety alert regarding the recall.
A notice from Health Canada on its website advises against selling, distributing, or consuming the product. The chips were distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, PEI, Quebec, and other provinces.
Health Canada has classified this as a ‘Class II’ recall, as consuming the product is not expected to cause serious health issues. The chips are available in 200-gram packages and can be identified by the Universal Product Code (UPC) 0 66343 21623 2.
