Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation (NCN) has issued a full evacuation order due to nearby wildfires. The community announced that the evacuation is a precautionary measure. NCN members with their own vehicles are asked to register at the NCN Multiplex before heading to Winnipeg and to check in with the Canadian Red Cross at the RBC Convention Centre at 375 York Avenue in Winnipeg. Fuel slips will be provided at the multiplex. Community members without transportation are advised to go to the multiplex as soon as possible.
The announcement also states that the wildfire is approximately four kilometers away from the Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation and that PR-391 will be closed, with access to the community restricted. Residents who are currently outside the community are asked to contact authorities by calling 204-670-2088 or via email. They are also required to register with the Red Cross at the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg.
