NEW YORK: New York City Mayor Eric Adams hosted a Diwali celebration at his official residence, Gracie Mansion, paying tribute to the city’s vibrant Indian community. The Mayor used the occasion to praise the significant role the Indian community plays in the cultural and economic development of New York City.
Deputy Consul General Jayesh Bhai Harsh attended the event, representing the Consulate General, and extended warm Diwali greetings to the gathering.
The spirit of Diwali was celebrated across New York and other cities as well:
- New York State: Governor Kathy Hochul participated in Diwali festivities held at the Shri Swaminarayan Temple in Flushing.
- Tallahassee: The Indian Consul and Head of Chancery from Atlanta attended the Diwali celebrations, which saw the active presence of the Indian expatriate community.
- Houston: Mayor John Whitmire and Indian Consul General D.C. Manjunath were among the dignitaries who took part in the Diwali celebrations there.
