New GST Payment Distribution Set for October 3rd

OTTAWA: Millions of eligible Canadian taxpayers, including temporary residents, international students, and refugees, are set to receive their next Goods and Services Tax / Harmonized Sales Tax (GST/HST) credit payment on October 3rd.

The tax-free quarterly payment, which is designed to provide financial relief to low-to-moderate-income individuals and families, is a welcome piece of news for Canadians.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) confirmed that the GST payment amount has been increased since July 4th, based on the prior tax year (2024). The maximum GST/HST credit amounts will be:

  • Single Individuals: $533
  • Married or Common-law Couples: $698
  • For each child under the age of 19: $184

The CRA also announced the upcoming payment dates for the 2025-2026 period: January 5, 2026, and April 3, 2026. This timely injection of funds aims to help offset costs for vulnerable taxpayers across Canada.
