Manitoba launches wildfire disaster relief program for 2025

WINNIPEG — The Government of Manitoba is launching a Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) program for municipalities to recover from this year’s devastating wildfire season.

“This has been one of the most severe wildfire seasons in Manitoba’s history. Our government is committed to supporting municipalities as they work toward recovery,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Lisa Naylor.

Minister Naylor announced that the new DFA program for the 2025 wildfire season will provide assistance to municipalities and local government authorities that were either directly impacted by the fires or incurred significant costs while hosting evacuated residents.

“Families were displaced, and communities were deeply affected. Our government stands with the residents of Manitoba during this difficult time and will provide all necessary assistance to help municipalities rebuild and recover,” Naylor added.
