Legionnaires’ disease outbreak concludes in London, Ontario after 70 cases, 3 deaths

LONDON, ONTARIO: The Middlesex-London Health Unit has officially announced the conclusion of the Legionnaires’ disease outbreak that affected the city. The outbreak, spanning from July 8 to August 6 this year, resulted in 70 confirmed cases. Of those infected, 64 individuals required hospitalization, and tragically, three people succumbed to the illness.

The health department determined the outbreak to be over after a specified period passed without any new reported cases since the last confirmed infection. Despite extensive efforts to pinpoint the source of the infection, including the collection of 12 samples from 26 cooling tower sites, the exact cause of the outbreak remains undetermined.
