MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump are set to meet, according to Russia’s foreign affairs advisor, Yuri Ushakov. Ushakov announced that an agreement on the meeting between the two leaders has been reached and that it will take place in the coming days. The venue for the meeting has been decided and will be announced later.
This will be the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders since Trump began his second term as US President. The news comes after Trump recently expressed hope that he could meet with the Russian president as part of an effort to end the war in Ukraine.
The meeting is considered highly significant as the Russia-Ukraine war has now entered its third year. However, doubts remain as to whether the talks will lead to a resolution, given the low likelihood of a consensus being reached on the demands of both Russia and Ukraine.
