TEHRAN: Iran’s official news agency, IRNA, has reported that 61 people, including 40 schoolgirls, were killed in a series of joint military strikes by Israel and the United States. The reports indicate that a girls’ school in the Minab region was hit during the offensive. Minab is known to house an Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) airbase.
The first explosions in Tehran were reported near the official office of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Following this, waves of attacks were reported across the country, with footage emerging of smoke rising from multiple strategic locations.
Responding to the military action, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the global community via a video message, framing the strikes as an opportunity for the Iranian people to rise against Islamic rule. “For years you have asked for America’s help, and you never truly received it. Now is the real time for that help,” Trump stated in his address, urging the Iranian populace to seize the moment for change.
