Brampton: An Indian-origin man has been arrested in connection with death threats made against Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown and his family. Peel Regional Police confirmed that 29-year-old Kanwarjyot Singh Manoria has been taken into custody. He has been charged with uttering death threats.
The threatening message was sent via email to the Mayor’s office. Following this, police protection was provided to the Mayor’s residence and family for approximately two weeks. The arrest was made after electronic devices were seized. Authorities suspect the threats were made in response to the Mayor’s remarks against the Bishnoi gang.
Police stated that Manoria acted alone and poses no further threat to the Mayor, his family, or the community. Manoria has been held in custody pending a bail hearing. Patrick Brown commented that this is not the first death threat he has received, and such threats will not alter his stance on public safety.
