Heavy Rain Set to Drench Ottawa

OTTAWA: Residents preparing for Halloween celebrations will need to ensure their costumes are waterproof, as Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the nation’s capital, predicting heavy rain from today (Thursday) through Friday night.

The low-pressure system is expected to bring up to 70 millimeters of rain to Ottawa. The heaviest precipitation is forecasted to occur from Thursday afternoon until Friday morning, according to the weather agency. Authorities have cautioned that localized flooding on roads and in low-lying areas is likely, which could lead to travel disruptions.

The weather forecast indicates that Thursday will see 6 to 15 millimeters of rain during the day, intensifying to 20 to 30 millimeters in the evening and overnight. The low temperature is expected to be 4 degrees Celsius.

On Friday, temperatures will reach a high of 5 degrees Celsius with an additional 10 to 20 millimeters of rain expected. The temperature will drop to 2 degrees Celsius overnight.

The weekend brings a mix of clouds and colder air. Saturday will be mostly cloudy with a high of 6 degrees Celsius and a 30% chance of rain. The temperature is expected to plummet to minus 6 degrees Celsius on Saturday night. Sunday’s weather is forecasted to be sunny with a high of 5 degrees Celsius.
